bob describes his day:

swim to the top of the bowl.

wait for the humans to feed me.

swim to the bottom.

wait for the humans to feed me.

swim around in circles.

wait for the humans to feed me.

eat some pebbles.

wait for the humans to feed me.

chew on the plastic plant while i wait for the humans to feed me.

wait for the humans to feed me.

do my jaws impression.

wait for the humans to feed me.

occasionally swim around really fast, and kind of flop and swish around.

wait for the humans to feed me.

finally get some food!

sugar rush

feeling unappreciated at work? overlooked? ignored?

try my simple solution for winning friends and becoming instantly popular: bring in a batch of homemade chocolate chip cookies.

  • watch those frowns turn upside down as your colleagues reach in to grab one
  • get a tiny thrill when they say, "thank you!"
  • delight as they heap praise on your "delicious" cookies and ask for your "secret" recipe

then sit back and watch the hours fly by.

*this method is particularly effective on a monday. also works on friends and husbands.

nine weeks to get fit!

if you have been following s on twitter, you know that we booked our next holiday. hooray!

somehow, i got it in my head that it would be fun to do a cycle tour. doesn't this look good - and more importantly, doable?

we have nine weeks to get ready for our 5-day, 230km ride from prague (czech republic) to meissen (germany). in the past 18 months of cycling to work, i doubt if i have ridden much further than that!

i am excited... a bit scared, but excited.

being passive aggressive in helvetica

s and i watched a documentary about helvetica last night. it's one of those fonts that people love to hate, but part of its appeal is its ability to convey messages in a simple, clear manner.

so with that thought, here is the note i wrote to our neighbo(u)rs this morning after a restless night. the last time i was awakened at 3 AM to the red hot chili peppers must have been at bryn mawr...

passiveaggressivebbq

s recently introduced me to a fantastically snarky, sarcastic website: passive aggressive notes. i don't think i have the guts to nail this note to their door and take a picture of it, but i do think it is in keeping with the spirit of the site.

incidentally, it might have been enough for these neighbors to warrant a passive aggressive note from us when their tree nearly fell through our living room window earlier in the day, but they had to top it off with their barbeque merriment. i don't have enough publishable words to describe my feelings toward them right now...
